Dress Design for Shabby Apple Dresses

Dress Design for Shabby Apple Dresses

I've called my dress "Alter Ego" why? because its reversible! My inspiration was my closet, my house was built in the 1940's and I share my teeny tiny closet with my husband and I love clothes, so space is very limited. I needed a dress that could offer versatility, so I thought about two dresses in one. I wanted something fun, different and cute, but offered a mature look. I used my fabric combination to get that fun look and kept the shape fitted and simple to give it a classy mature look.
I choose blue because its my favorite color, I loved the bouquets of cheery flowers on the blue print. I've been picking out a lot of pink lately, I think it has something to do with my daughter and girls are made for pink! I loved the bright pink color and funky polka-dot design a cute twist to a classic. I choose to use high quality quilting fabrics in 100% cotton.

Side one features a navy blue floral print; with a teal geometric print bib with pin-tucks. It has a ruffled peek-a-boo hem, a two-tone sash that wraps around the waist, and ruffled short sleeves.
Side two is a poka-dotted ribbon pink with the same teal geometric print sleeve and sash accents to tie the two dresses together. But has a ruffled hem. I also added flower applique cut out from the navy blue fabric from side one along the neckline.
The dress is fastened by snaps sewn on the inside of the front placket to keep an invisible look.
